In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Sunday, September 15th, Manmohan Samal, the Odisha Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, stated the BJP Yuva Morcha's seminar focused on 'One Nation One Election' was designed to encourage citizens to consider the nation's interests.
The BJP's Yuva Morcha held a seminar on the 'One Nation, One Election' concept in Bhubaneswar earlier that day. Samal, addressing the media, explained the program, which involved students, aimed to prompt national reflection. He noted the discussion had evolved into a movement and would continue.
Furthermore, on August 12th, the Lok Sabha approved a motion to extend the deadline for the Joint Parliamentary Committee's report on the 'One Nation, One Election Bill.' This extension provides the committee until the first day of the final week of the Winter Session in 2025 to present its findings.
The motion was proposed by PP Chaudhary, the Chairman of the One Nation, One Election Panel. He sought additional time for the JPC to finalize its report on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The motion specifically requested the extension for the presentation of the report. The bill was initially introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2024 and subsequently referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses for further review.

Short-sighted and dangerous! The democratic process is cheapened, and voter engagement is weakened.
