King Charles has started plans to revamp the gardens at Windsor Castle, reflecting his strong enthusiasm for the project. The King's goal is to create a breathtaking vista that can be appreciated from above. Traditionally, the gardens served mainly the Royal Family, but modernisation has allowed public access to many areas of these green spaces.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman discussed the King's intentions with the Daily Mail, noting that the renovations are designed to impress those flying into Heathrow Airport, located about seven miles from the Castle. He mentioned that the King envisions people visiting not just by air but also on foot. The gardens have a rich history, having been enjoyed by various royals, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, who once cultivated vegetables there, and Prince Philip, who planted thousands of rosebushes.
The modernization process began in 2020 when the gardens were opened to the public. The ongoing plans, seen as an important aspect of the King's legacy, aim to introduce a diverse array of plant species, ranging from large trees to small shrubs, enhancing the overall beauty of these historic grounds.
