Xu Lu, representing China, achieved a significant victory at the World Games, securing the gold medal in the women's wakeboard freestyle final. The podium was completed by Alice Virag of Italy, who took the second-place position, and Eugenia De Armas from Argentina, who finished third.
Xu, hailing from Sichuan, had previously demonstrated her wakeboarding skills, earning a place in the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, Alabama. Unfortunately, an injury prevented her from competing. She successfully qualified for the current edition of the games in Chengdu.
In Chengdu, Xu participated in the wakeboarding competition alongside her teammate, Alu Xiaobo. They rode waves created by a motorboat. Prior to her competition, Xu played a role in the opening ceremony, performing impressive stunt-like moves while lighting the cauldron. This dramatic moment was followed by her triumphant performance in the freestyle final, where she claimed the championship.

It’s just another event where politics and competition mix. No true sport in that!
