EU and Denmark Condemn Proposed US Tariffs on EU Exports

At a recent press conference in Brussels, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen expressed strong condemnation of the Trump administration's proposal to implement a 30 percent tariff on exports from the European Union, labeling it as "absolutely unacceptable." He emphasized that the EU sees this threat as unjustified and made it clear that they are prepared to take action if diplomatic discussions with the U.S. do not yield a satisfactory resolution. Rasmussen reiterated the commitment to pursuing a negotiated agreement that is fair and acceptable to both parties.

During the press conference, EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic commented on the severity of the situation by revealing that the EU is getting ready to implement potential countermeasures that could amount to 72 billion euros, which is equivalent to 84 billion dollars. Sefcovic highlighted the bloc's need to brace for all possibilities, including the consideration of well-planned and proportionate actions aimed at restoring balance in the transatlantic relationship. He maintained a hopeful outlook, suggesting that negotiations could still be viable, but acknowledged that any final agreement would require the approval of all EU member states and the European Parliament.

Rasmussen should realize that constant threats won't help their cause. Actions speak louder than words.
