Spring Airlines Enhances Pilot Training with New A320 Flight Simulator

On July 18, Spring Airlines celebrated the arrival of its first A320 flight training simulator, custom-built in China, at its Shanghai facilities. This development represents a vital advancement in the budget airline's mission to bolster pilot training while prioritizing operational safety. The simulator was created through a partnership with Harbin Wright Brothers Technology Development Co Ltd and includes a fully equipped cockpit, a rear cabin, and a visual system, allowing the simulation of up to 300 different system failure scenarios. This wide range of training capabilities caters to normal operations, emergencies, and various special situations.

Shen Wei, the vice-president of Spring Airlines, noted that this new A320 flight training device is an excellent supplement to existing full-motion simulators and training equipment. He emphasized that it would not only enhance pilot skill levels but also lead to a reduction in overall training expenses. Since launching its flight training base in 2014 with an investment of 800 million yuan (approximately $111 million), the airline plans to receive a total of seven simulators by the end of the current year, which will enable the training of over 2,000 pilots.

Wang Zhijie, the president of Spring Airlines, highlighted the crucial role that pilots played in refining flight procedures throughout the design process of the new simulator. Their input has been instrumental in ensuring that the training facility meets the necessary effectiveness and accuracy for the pilots' needs.
