The WNBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis kicked off with a strong showing from the New York Liberty. Teammates Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud secured victories in the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge, respectively, adding to the team's accolades.
Ionescu showcased her shooting prowess, securing her second career title in the 3-Point Contest. She dominated the competition, scoring an impressive 30 points. Earlier in the evening, Cloud demonstrated her skills in the Skills Challenge, navigating the passing and shooting course.
This success marked another highlight for the newly formed teammates. Cloud joined the defending champions during the off-season and quickly made a significant impact, contributing to New York's position at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. Ionescu praised Cloud's dedication and willingness to do whatever it takes for the team's success.
The Skills Challenge victory was particularly rewarding for Cloud, who earned a substantial prize. She celebrated with her teammate and girlfriend, Isabelle Harrison, and announced plans to use the winnings towards purchasing a home together. Cloud expressed her confidence and belief in her abilities, despite not being selected for the All-Star roster.
Ionescu, who had previously set a record in the 3-Point Contest, faced pressure to perform. While she didn't break her own record, she delivered a strong performance. She later revealed she would share half of her prize with fellow competitor Sonia Citron, a rookie for the Washington Mystics.

Do we really need to spotlight these two? Seems like they want validation more than anything else.

All this hype, but when will the WNBA get more recognition? They're still in the shadows of the NBA.
