A fatal poisoning incident at a copper mine in Yuanqu county, Shanxi province, resulted in the deaths of three workers. The accident took place on Tuesday at the Luojiahe Copper Mine.
The National Mine Safety Administration reported that the cause of the poisoning was gunpowder smoke. Blasting operations underground can produce substantial amounts of toxic gases.
The administration highlighted that the risk of poisoning is heightened in confined spaces, areas with inadequate ventilation, or when safety regulations are not properly observed.
In response to the tragedy, authorities have called on all mines nationwide to learn from the incident. They are urging mines to strengthen safety measures, ensure strict adherence to protocols, and prevent future accidents. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently ongoing.

This is unacceptable! How many more lives must be lost before mining companies take safety seriously?
