After Nepal ended their Asia Cup 2023 campaign in a loss to India by 10 wickets, Nepal's captain Rohit Paudel revealed that his team had talked with Indian captain Rohit Sharma and batsman Virat Kohli, which was a useful conversation. Blistering batting display from Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma helped India defeat Nepal by 10 wickets via the DLS method in a rain-curtailed match in the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday. We talked with Rohit and Virat and they gave lots of experience to us and this will be very useful for us, the captain said in the post-match press conference. However, Paudel said he was satisfied with the performance of his team and he thought that 260-270 would have been a better score. I am happy with the performance of the boys, especially with the bat. I think the openers performed very well. In the middle order, we could have done better. I thought around 260-270 would have been a good score. I am happy with the performance if you talk about it. Indian openers batted till the end and another Indian batter got the chance to bat. Paudel was a little disappointed that they did not get the opportunity to ball against Virat. When we played against Pakistan, I thought it was most favourable for the medium pacer, and we took the opportunity from that, the Nepal captain said. Today's condition was more challenging because of dew as the ball was not gripping. But the credit goes to Shubman and Rohit Bhai, the way they batted. India chose to bowl first against Pakistan in the first cricket test match. In their first match against India, Nepal posted a valiant 230/10 in 48.1 overs. Nepal started well with a 65 runs opening stand between Kushal Bhurtel and Kushal Bhurtel, who went on to score 58 in 97 balls, with eight fours. After the opening stand, Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj reduced Nepal to 144/6. But a 50-run stand between dipendra Singh and Sompal Kami helped Nepal reach near the 200-run mark. A late collaboration between Kami and Sandeep Lammichhane helped Nepal reach a respectable figure. India chose Jadeja and Siraj as the bowlers. Shadul Thakur, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya have each won wickets. The chase for 231 runs was disrupted by rain at 17/0 and the revised target was 145 in 23 overs. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made light work of the target as Indian openers made light work of the target, winning the match with 17 balls to go and full 10 wickets in hand. India has secured three points in their two Group 2 matches and advanced to the Super 4 stage. India will play Pakistan in their Super Four match on Sunday.

The match result highlights the difference in skill and experience between the two teams. No amount of conversation with Indian players can bridge that gap in such a short period.

The Nepal captain's statement about the useful conversation with Indian players should be taken at face value. It is possible that they shared valuable insights and tips with the Nepalese team.

The Nepal captain's satisfaction with his team's performance, despite the loss, highlights a positive attitude and belief in their abilities. This mindset can contribute to their future growth and development.

The Nepal captain's satisfaction with his team's performance could be seen as a lack of ambition. Settling for a score of 260-270 is not a winning mindset.
