A 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Honduras, Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana, was apprehended in Louisiana for heinous crimes including raping a 14-year-old girl and stabbing a man during a robbery in Kenner. The Kenner Police Department detailed the incident on their Facebook page, stating that Castellanos-Orellana demanded the man's belongings at knifepoint before stabbing him in the face and back, leading to the victim being hospitalized in stable condition.
Castellanos-Orellana faced charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, first-degree rape, and aggravated assault for his actions. Additionally, a federal ICE detainer was issued for him. The Kenner Police lamented the challenges law enforcement faces in dealing with illegal immigrants, citing issues such as false identification, language barriers, and the lack of verifiable information that hinder their efforts in tackling such cases. The police chief, Keith Conley, expressed concerns over the drain on resources and financial burden posed by dealing with undocumented criminals, questioning the possibility of offenders re-entering the community under new identities and continuing to commit crimes undetected. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry criticized Castellanos-Orellana's presence in the state and called for stricter border control to ensure community safety.

This is a terrible crime, but we need to remember that not all illegal immigrants are criminals.
