Ukraine Targets Russian Oil Refineries in Drone Attacks

In a series of drone attacks, Ukraine targeted Russian oil refineries, setting off fires and causing concerns about potential supply disruptions, leading to a 2 per cent increase in oil prices. The attacks on key energy facilities, including Rosneft's largest refinery, were described as significant strikes against Russia's energy sector, escalating tensions between the two countries.

These attacks are part of a broader conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides utilizing drones to target critical infrastructure, military sites, and troop concentrations over the course of their ongoing war. Ukrainian forces have recently intensified their attacks on Russian refineries and energy installations, resulting in damage to refineries in the Rostov and Ryazan regions, according to Russian officials.

The drone strikes in Ryazan and Rostov caused fires at Rosneft's seventh-largest refinery and the Novoshakhtinsk refinery, respectively, with reports of injuries and production halts at the facilities.
